Hi friends, it’s been a long time since I updated you on the life of Graham. I’ve been so busy having fun that I just haven’t had time to update my blog in a while. I have been in my new home for about two months now and boy is it good! It’s everything Grace said it would be and more. My new family are just the best, Mum makes the best chicken casserole ever and always makes my own portion for my dinner. Dad and Danny take me out for an after-school walk. Danny has so much to tell me about what he’s learnt in class that day, sometimes I think I could give this maths malarkey a go... one custard cream, two custard creams... it seems so easy! Ava and I have become best friends and Mum says we’re ‘joined at the hip’. Ava includes me in all her games and I love being with her. She gets me! It makes me sad when she goes to nursery on a Tuesday and a Thursday, I miss her all day. It does mean I get to see Nanny though, as Mum works in the office while Ava is in nursery, so I am alone for a little bit until Nanny comes and takes me for a walk. She is ace, I get to choose where I walk and she just enjoys singing away, and watching the world go by.
I like the weekends as everyone is home from work and school so I get to be with my hoomans all day! Although Mum decides to move the house around on a Saturday morning and uses this loud stick that sucks up my biscuit crumbs from the floor. I hate it, I always try to attack it when she gets it out and everyone laughs at me. The loud stick expects me to move so it can suck up bits from underneath my dog bed. Dad always takes me to the garden to play, while Mum runs the stick around the house. I also have FINALLY mastered the stairs to everyone’s sleeping rooms! It took me a few attempts to get the hang of them and my legs would go everywhere. A few times I got to the top of the stairs but struggled to come down, that’s when Dad would have to carry me down the stairs. Finally, a week ago I managed to get up and down the stairs all by myself. I am a pro at it now, which is great because I can get to Ava’s cuddlies even easier! Ahh I almost forgot to say, I have helped myself to another teddy from her collection. I now have Ted, Mr Bunny and Ellie the elephant! Life is good!
At nighttime, it’s a bit chilly so when we go for a walk, or snuggling up on the sofa, I get to wear my pyjamas. They’re blue with silver stars that glow in the dark and I do feel like a bobby dazzler! The PJ’s keep my legs warm, and it has a snood that I can snuggle in, they’re the best thing invented – I wish I could wear them all day, every day!! Which leads onto my nighttime snuggles - I enjoy sitting on the sofa with Mum and I always face my bottom towards Dad as I cuddle her. Dad says my farts are the worst thing he’s ever smelt before, sometimes it’s better to let it out than keep it in! Mum finds it hilarious, but Dad doesn’t and will even open a window sometimes – dramatic if you ask me!
Which takes me to this weekend. Everyone has been at home this week as it’s the Easter Holidays. Mum has been decorating the house with bunny themed decorations... what a tease! Ava has been telling me that the Easter bunny is coming today, which is very brave of him if you ask me. Coming on my turf, I can’t wait to chase him away. I’m going to keep my eyes peeled to see if I can see him. It does mean there have been loads of tempting treats around the house, but Mum says I can’t have the chocolates or hot cross buns that they’re eating as it would make my tummy very poorly. She’s even hid them in the cupboard knowing my past record of being able to help myself to snacks from the countertop!
I was super excited when the doorbell rang and Nanny turned up with lots of goodies for Ava and Danny. I was hoping there would be something for me. They both got giant chocolate eggs and tucked into them straight away, I was so jealous. Until Nanny came through the door with this giant fluffy multicoloured caterpillar teddy. It’s even bigger than me, oh wow. She laid it on my bed and I instantly curled up with the caterpillar that Nanny said was called Cleo. Apparently, no greyhound should be without a Cleo! I couldn’t agree more, it’s so warm and fuzzy – thanks Nanny. Mum said to Nanny that she’ll have to get one for her house too, for when the big day comes and her friend will be arriving, does that mean I will be going to Nanny’s too?
We then paused the Cleo fun and started the big Easter Egg hunt; I kept looking for the Easter bunny but couldn’t see him anywhere. What a sneaky bunny, I must have missed him! Dad put me on a lead while we stood outside and watched Ava and Danny run around the garden with their baskets finding chocolate eggs. Dad said I couldn’t join the fun this time in case I ate one of the eggs and gave myself tummy ache. But I laid on a blanket outside watching everyone have fun. I was pleased as the sun was shining and I could see Danny and Ava were happy.
The hunt was soon over and both Danny and Ava had baskets full of eggs. It seems like the Easter bunny was generous this year, perhaps he doesn’t know I live here now? Mum served up a roast dinner and everyone was chatting and that was my cue to take an afternoon nap in bed – it's exhausting seeing everyone have fun. I was woken up by the smell of a sweet treat. Ava and Mum were by my bed with a little box. Mum said she has got me a doggy friendly chocolate egg, so I didn’t miss out on the Easter fun. Wow, the Easter bunny must like me then, maybe he's not that bad after all. It seems as if I did in fact eat the egg straight away and I am now in a food coma snuggled up with Mum watching the telly box. I am very tired, full and happy – home life is great. I will update you soon, love and licks Graham.
